Museum technology

Museums and exhibition buildings are special because they offer a valuable contemporary cultural message or insight into historical developments and other cultures to a wide audience. The means to convey that message have evolved over the centuries from art objects and paintings to multimedia art. Each medium poses specific demands on the museum building, for example with regard to security, climate control, lighting, the environment and logistics. The same is true for the storage of artefacts in depots.
ToornendPartners develops its knowledge and expertise in this area in order to optimally support its clients. To this aim, ToornendPartners maintains contacts in the international museum world. This is necessary because of the typically unusual and challenging problems that clients present to us.

An example is the close collaboration with Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in the development of the Collection Building: a completely new concept for a museum depot, matching the museum management’s innovative vision.

ToornendPartners has knowledge and experience in the field of logistics, climate control, security and the like. Our specialist knowledge is focused on advising clients during all project phases. Since ToornendPartners supports its clients based on a comprehensive vision, other specific products have been developed for museums as well, such as project briefs, multi-year maintenance plans and facility or building management strategies, for example for the Jewish Museum in Berlin.
