UTRECHT

The University Museum Utrecht is the treasurer of Utrecht’s academic heritage. This is the place where the public actively familiarizes themselves with science and the university. The University Museum is located in the former Botanical Laboratory of the University of Utrecht on the Lange Nieuwstraat. At the request of the University, ToornendPartners produced a design brief for the renovation and optimization of the museum building. The building needed a thorough renovation to enable future growth of the museum while responding to evolving public expectations, the need for appropriate modern facilities, the university’s ambition for sustainability and adherence to the current safety requirements. ToornendPartners optimized the design brief for the renovation by organizing workshops focused on specific issues concerning the renovation, including rough drafts of the new layout and an estimation of the investment costs.
